Staines
Staines-upon-Thames, commonly known as Staines, is a town in the Spelthorne district of Surrey, England, situated on the south bank of the River Thames approximately 14 miles west of central London. The town lies close to Heathrow Airport and is well connected by road via the M25 and by rail into London Waterloo. Staines has a long history as a Thames crossing point, with a stone bridge carrying the road across the river, and the London Stone on the riverbank historically marked the western boundary of the City of London's jurisdiction over the Thames.
