Sheffield

Sheffield, Yorkshire, England

Sheffield is a major city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England, situated on the River Don and its tributaries at the eastern edge of the Pennines, approximately 35 miles south of Leeds. The city was historically the world's leading centre of steel production and cutlery manufacture, earning the nickname the Steel City, and this industrial heritage is commemorated at Kelham Island Museum. Sheffield is now a major regional centre for education, culture, and commerce, home to two universities, and a third of the city's area falls within the Peak District National Park.
