Scarborough

Scarborough, Yorkshire, England

Scarborough is a seaside town on the North Yorkshire coast, situated on a bay flanked by two sandy beaches divided by a prominent headland on which stands the ruins of Scarborough Castle. The town is one of the oldest seaside resorts in England, having attracted visitors to its mineral springs since the 17th century, and it retains a traditional resort character with a Victorian seafront, amusement arcades, and clifftop gardens. Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast and is also notable as the birthplace of the Sitwell family and as the setting for several of Alan Ayckbourn's theatrical premieres.
