Saltdean is a seaside suburb located on the East Sussex coast, approximately 4 miles east of Brighton city centre, within the City of Brighton and Hove. It was developed as a planned coastal resort in the 1930s and is noted for its Art Deco architecture, most notably the Saltdean Lido, which is a Grade II* listed building considered one of the finest Art Deco open-air swimming pools in the country. The seafront at Saltdean is characterised by chalk cliffs and a shingle beach accessed by steps from the cliff-top promenade. The area lies within the South Downs National Park.
