Ringsend

Ringsend

Ringsend, Dublin, Republic of Ireland

Ringsend is an inner-city neighbourhood on the south bank of the River Liffey in Dublin, situated where the river meets Dublin Bay. Historically a separate fishing village and ferry port, it was gradually absorbed into the expanding city during the 18th and 19th centuries. The area is dominated by the tall chimneys of the Poolbeg Generating Station, whose red-and-white striped stacks have become a distinctive landmark on the Dublin skyline. Ringsend is adjacent to Irishtown and the Grand Canal Dock area.
