Peckforton Castle

Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, England

Peckforton Castle is a Victorian mock medieval castle located in the Cheshire countryside near the village of Peckforton, overlooking the Cheshire Plain from a wooded sandstone ridge. It was built between 1844 and 1851 by the architect Anthony Salvin for John Tollemache, 1st Baron Tollemache, and is considered the largest and most complete example of a medieval-style castle built in England during the Victorian era. The castle is set within woodland and has views towards the nearby medieval ruin of Beeston Castle. It now operates as a wedding and events venue and hotel.
