Old Wardour Castle
Old Wardour Castle is the ruin of a 14th-century fortified house located near the village of Tisbury in Wiltshire, managed by English Heritage. The castle was built around 1393 by John, 5th Baron Lovell, in an unusual hexagonal form influenced by French castle design, and was later damaged beyond repair during two sieges in the English Civil War. The ruin is set beside a small lake within a landscaped park that was created in the 18th century as a picturesque garden feature around the castle. New Wardour Castle, an 18th-century house, was built nearby as the replacement residence and stands close to the ruin.
