Northumberland, England

Northumberland is England's northernmost county, sharing a long border with Scotland and featuring some of the most remote and sparsely populated landscapes in England. Northumberland National Park covers a large portion of the county, encompassing the Cheviot Hills, the upper reaches of the Tyne Valley, and some of the best-preserved sections of Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The coastline is dramatic and largely undeveloped, featuring vast sandy beaches, dune systems, and the castles of Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth. Hexham serves as one of the county's principal market towns, while Alnwick is known for its grand medieval castle.
