North Weald

North Weald Bassett is a village in the Epping Forest district of Essex, England, situated approximately twenty miles north-east of central London. The village is best known for North Weald Airfield, a former RAF station that played a significant role in the Battle of Britain as a base for Fighter Command squadrons. The airfield continues in use for general aviation and hosts regular air shows and markets. The village lies close to the M11 motorway and is within the Essex Green Belt.
