Muswell Hill is a district in the London Borough of Haringey, situated on a ridge in north London approximately 6 miles from central London, offering extensive views across the city. The area developed as a prosperous suburb in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods and is characterised by distinctive curved streets of red-brick terraces and a tree-lined commercial centre around the Broadway. Muswell Hill is known as the birthplace of the Kinks, the influential 1960s rock band, and contains Alexandra Palace on its southern slope.
