Mount Edgcumbe

Mount Edgcumbe, Cornwall, England

Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park is located on the Rame Peninsula in south-east Cornwall, opposite Plymouth on the western shore of Plymouth Sound. The house was built in the Tudor period as one of the earliest Renaissance-style country houses in England and was largely rebuilt following bomb damage during the Second World War. The country park surrounding the house covers some 865 acres and includes formal gardens representing different national styles, extensive parkland, and clifftop walks with views over Plymouth Sound and the English Channel. The estate is jointly managed by Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council and is open to the public.
