Mayfair

Mayfair

Mayfair, London, England

Mayfair is an affluent district in the West End of London, in the City of Westminster, bounded by Oxford Street to the north, Regent Street to the east, Piccadilly to the south, and Park Lane to the west. The area takes its name from the May Fair that was held annually from 1686 on the site that is now Shepherd Market until the late 18th century. Mayfair is characterised by Georgian townhouses, luxury hotels, art galleries, private members' clubs, and some of the most expensive retail property in the world. Mount Street, Berkeley Square, and Grosvenor Square are among the area's most notable addresses.
