Martin and Tidpit Downs
Martin Down National Nature Reserve is one of the largest areas of chalk downland in the United Kingdom, situated near the village of Martin on the borders of Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Dorset, England. The reserve covers approximately 350 hectares and supports a rich diversity of chalk grassland flora and fauna, including many species of orchids, butterflies, and ground-nesting birds. The landscape preserves ancient features including prehistoric earthworks, field systems, and a section of the Bokerley Dyke, a late Roman defensive earthwork. The reserve is managed by Natural England.
