Macgilligan Strand
Magilligan Strand is one of the longest beaches in Ireland, stretching for approximately 7 miles along the eastern shore of Lough Foyle in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is located in the Limavady district and forms part of a broader area of dunes and coastal habitat that includes the Magilligan Point Nature Reserve. The strand is backed by an extensive dune system, one of the largest in Ireland, and the area has been designated as an Area of Special Scientific Interest for its ecological importance. Magilligan Point, at the northern tip of the strand, is the closest point on the Irish mainland to Scotland.
