Longford

Longford is a small inland county in the north midlands of Ireland, characterised by low-lying pastoral farmland, bogland, and numerous lakes. Lough Ree, one of the largest lakes on the River Shannon, forms part of its western boundary. Longford town is the county town and main commercial centre. The county is one of Ireland's least populous and is crossed by the Royal Canal and the River Shannon to the west.
