Loch Tay

Loch Tay, Perthshire, Scotland

Loch Tay is a freshwater loch located in the southern Highlands of Scotland, in the council area of Perth and Kinross. It is approximately 14.5 miles long and is the sixth largest loch in Scotland, draining eastward into the River Tay via the short River Dochart to the west and the River Tay at Kenmore to the east. The surrounding landscape is characterised by steep glacially carved hillsides rising to Ben Lawers, the highest peak in the southern Highlands, which dominates the northern shore. The village of Killin sits at the western end and Kenmore at the eastern, with the area popular for fishing, watersports, and walking.
