Knutsford
Knutsford is a market town in the borough of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England, located approximately 15 miles south of Manchester. It is a prosperous town known for its well-preserved Georgian and Italianate architecture, the latter largely the work of the eccentric local architect and philanthropist Richard Harding Watt in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Knutsford is closely associated with the Victorian novelist Elizabeth Gaskell, who grew up in the town and used it as the basis for the fictional town of Cranford in her novel of that name. The nearby Tatton Park, a large National Trust estate with a hall, gardens, and deer park, is a major attraction in the area.
