Isle of Dogs

Isle of Dogs, London, England

The Isle of Dogs is a peninsula in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in east London, formed by a large meander of the River Thames. It was historically an area of docks and industrial wharves, centred on the West India Docks, which were among the busiest in the British Empire during the 19th century. Following the closure of the docks in the 1980s, the area was transformed through one of Europe's largest regeneration projects, resulting in the development of Canary Wharf as a major international financial and commercial centre. The area is served by the Docklands Light Railway and the London Underground Jubilee line.
