Hull
Kingston upon Hull, commonly known as Hull, is a city and unitary authority on the north bank of the Humber estuary in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It developed as a major seaport from the 13th century and was one of England's most important trading cities during the medieval and early modern periods, and the birthplace of the anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce. The city was severely bombed during the Second World War and much of its historic fabric was lost, though it retains the Old Town with its medieval street pattern and the Wilberforce House Museum. Hull served as UK City of Culture in 2017, which stimulated significant cultural investment and regeneration.
