Hertford, Hertfordshire, England

Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire, England, situated at the confluence of four rivers: the Lea, the Mimram, the Beane, and the Rib, approximately twenty miles north of London. The town has a long history as an administrative centre and contains Hertford Castle, a surviving gatehouse of the medieval royal castle that later served as the offices of the East India Company. Hertford is home to several independent schools, including Haileybury, and has a compact town centre with a mix of Georgian and Victorian buildings. It is served by rail with connections to London Liverpool Street.
