Guildford, Surrey, England

Guildford is the county town of Surrey and a major commercial and administrative centre in the south-east of England, situated in the valley of the River Wey approximately thirty miles south-west of central London. The town has a steep cobblestoned high street with a 17th-century guildhall and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle keep. The modern Gothic Revival cathedral of the Holy Spirit, built in brick on Stag Hill above the town, was completed in 1961 and is one of the few 20th-century cathedrals in England. Guildford is home to the University of Surrey and is well connected by rail to London Waterloo.
