Great Sugar Loaf

Great Sugar Loaf

Great Sugar Loaf, Wicklow, Republic of Ireland

The Great Sugar Loaf is a distinctive conical quartzite peak in the Wicklow Mountains, County Wicklow, rising to 501 metres above sea level. Its steeply pointed summit is unmistakable and forms a prominent landmark visible from much of County Wicklow and south County Dublin. The mountain is a popular walking destination with a well-worn path leading to the summit from a car park near Kilmacanogue. Its name derives from its resemblance to a traditional cone-shaped loaf of sugar.
