Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire is a county in South West England, encompassing the Forest of Dean to the west, the Cotswolds to the east, and the Severn Vale in between. The Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are characterised by honey-coloured limestone villages, rolling hills, and ancient droving roads. The River Severn, one of England's longest rivers, flows through the county, and the tidal bore that travels up the estuary is a notable natural phenomenon. Gloucester, the county town, has a magnificent medieval cathedral and Roman origins as the settlement of Glevum.
