Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and the fourth-largest in the United Kingdom, situated on the River Clyde in west-central Scotland. It developed as a major industrial city during the Industrial Revolution, becoming a world centre of shipbuilding, heavy engineering, and textile manufacturing, a heritage reflected in the area’s architecture and culture. The city has undergone significant post-industrial regeneration from the 1980s onwards and is now a major centre for commerce, finance, arts, and culture, home to world-class museums including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Burrell Collection. Glasgow hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and was European Capital of Culture in 1990.
