Dover Hoverport
The Dover Hoverport was a terminal facility for hovercraft services located at the western docks of Dover, Kent. It served as the UK terminal for cross-Channel hovercraft operations, most notably those run by Hoverspeed using SR.N4 hovercraft, which carried both passengers and vehicles across the English Channel to Calais and Boulogne. The service was a popular and fast alternative to conventional ferry crossings, with the crossing taking approximately 35 minutes. Hovercraft services from Dover ceased in 2000 when Hoverspeed discontinued the route due to competition from the Channel Tunnel and high-speed catamarans.
