Claydon House

Claydon House, Buckinghamshire, England

Claydon House is a National Trust property near Middle Claydon in Buckinghamshire, England, the ancestral seat of the Verney family. The house dates from the 18th century and is notable for its extraordinary Rococo and Chinese Chippendale state rooms, considered among the most unusual and exuberant interiors of Georgian England. Florence Nightingale was a regular visitor to Claydon, as her sister Frances Parthenope married Sir Harry Verney, and a room in the house is dedicated to her memory. The house is set within a modest park and gardens and is open to the public.
