Castle Street
Castle Street is one of the principal historic streets in the city centre of Liverpool, Merseyside, running from Water Street near the waterfront to Derby Square. The street is lined with imposing Victorian and Edwardian commercial buildings, reflecting Liverpool's nineteenth-century prosperity as one of the world's leading ports. Derby Square at the southern end of the street is dominated by the Victoria Monument and the former site of Liverpool Castle, from which the street takes its name. Castle Street forms part of Liverpool's commercial district and is home to several banks and financial institutions.
