Carnforth Station
Carnforth Station is a railway station serving the market town of Carnforth in Lancashire, situated on the West Coast Main Line and at the junction of lines to Barrow-in-Furness and Leeds. The station is historically significant as the main location for the 1945 David Lean film Brief Encounter, which used the station's refreshment room and platforms to great dramatic effect. A heritage centre dedicated to the film has been established at the station, which has been carefully restored to its 1940s appearance. Carnforth remains an active station and is also a junction where passengers change for the scenic Furness and Bentham lines.
