Brunel University London is a public research university located in Uxbridge, in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It was established as a College of Advanced Technology in 1966 and granted university status in the same year, taking its name from the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The campus was designed to a masterplan by the architect Richard Sheppard and occupies approximately 160 acres. The university has particular strengths in engineering, technology, and business disciplines.
