Bedfordshire is an inland county in the East of England, situated north of London. It is characterised by gently rolling chalk hills, the Greensand Ridge, and the valley of the River Great Ouse. The county town is Bedford, while Luton is the largest urban centre. The landscape ranges from arable farmland to areas of heathland and ancient woodland.
