Battersea Park
Battersea Park is a large public park of approximately 200 acres situated on the south bank of the River Thames in the London Borough of Wandsworth. The park was created on former marshland known as Battersea Fields and formally opened to the public in 1858. It contains a wide range of facilities including a boating lake, a sub-tropical garden, a Buddhist peace pagoda, sports pitches, and an art gallery. The park hosted athletics events during the 1948 London Olympic Games and remains one of south London's most popular green spaces.
