Bampton
Bampton is a small market town in West Oxfordshire, England, situated in the upper Thames Valley between Witney and Faringdon. The town has medieval origins and is centred on a large market square with a mix of stone-built Cotswold-style architecture. It is perhaps best known in recent years as one of the principal filming locations for the television drama Downton Abbey, with the town standing in for the fictional village of Downton.
