Ashridge Estate
The Ashridge Estate is a large area of woodland, commons, and downland managed by the National Trust, situated on the Berkhamsted ridge of the Chiltern Hills on the border of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The estate covers approximately 5,000 acres and encompasses ancient beech and oak woodland, open chalk downland, and the monument to the Duke of Bridgewater atop Ivinghoe Beacon. At the heart of the estate stands Ashridge House, a Gothic Revival mansion built in the early nineteenth century, which now operates as a business school. The landscape is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provides important habitat for a range of wildlife.
