Alexandra Slate Quarry

Alexandra Slate Quarry is a former slate quarrying site located near the village of Carmel in Gwynedd, north Wales, within the slate quarrying region of northwest Wales. The quarries of this part of Wales, particularly in the LlÅ·n Peninsula and Snowdonia area, produced roofing slate that was exported throughout the world during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The disused quarry landscape, characterised by spoil heaps, water-filled pits, and abandoned workings, is typical of the post-industrial heritage of north Welsh slate country.
