Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Aberdeenshire is a council area in north-east Scotland, surrounding but not including the city of Aberdeen. The county encompasses a varied landscape of fertile coastal lowlands, the broad agricultural plain of Buchan in the north, the deeply incised river valleys of the Dee and the Don, and the high peaks of the Cairngorms National Park in the west. The region is known for its remarkable concentration of prehistoric stone circles, medieval castles, and distilleries along the whisky-producing Speyside and Deeside areas. Aberdeenshire is also known for its high-quality beef farming, with Aberdeen Angus cattle having a worldwide reputation.
