In 17th-century East Anglia, the self-appointed Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins travels the countryside, exploiting superstition and religious turmoil to torture and execute people accused of witchcraft for personal profit. Vincent Price gives one of his darkest performances in Michael Reeves' disturbing and historically grounded horror film.
