The Lady Killers

A mild-mannered professor assembles a gang of eccentric criminals to use an elderly widow's house as a base for tunnelling into a nearby bank vault, but the gang finds they cannot bring themselves to dispose of the one witness to their crime. Alexander Mackendrick's Ealing comedy is a perfectly constructed dark farce, with Alec Guinness at his most deviously charming.
