The Critic

Set in 1934 London, the film centres on Jimmy Erskine, the most feared and powerful theatre critic in the West End, whose sharp pen can make or break careers. When the new proprietor of his newspaper threatens his position, Erskine hatches a Machiavellian scheme involving a struggling actress, blackmail, and betrayal. The film is a stylish period thriller exploring ambition, cruelty, and the corrupting nature of power within London's theatrical world. Directed by Anand Tucker and based on Anthony Quinn's 2015 novel Curtain Call.
