In Victorian London, the orphan Oliver Twist falls in with a gang of pickpockets led by the wily Fagin, while searching for a family and a place to belong. Carol Reed's Oscar-winning musical adaptation of Dickens's novel is one of the great achievements of British cinema, with memorable songs and a vivid recreation of gaslit London.
