Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis, Dorset, England

Lyme Regis is a coastal town in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, situated on Lyme Bay at the southwestern edge of Dorset near the Devon border. The town is internationally renowned for its fossil-bearing cliffs and beaches along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has a long association with the palaeontology of Mary Anning, who made important fossil discoveries there in the 19th century. The historic harbour arm known as the Cobb is a distinctive feature of the town's seafront, and Lyme Regis has been a popular seaside resort since Georgian times.
