Argyll

Argyll, Highlands, Scotland

Argyll is a historic region on the west coast of Scotland, encompassing a vast area of mainland peninsulas, sea lochs, and offshore islands including parts of the Inner Hebrides. The landscape is defined by rugged mountains, ancient oak woodlands, and a deeply indented coastline stretching from the Mull of Kintyre in the south to Loch Etive in the north. The region contains Loch Awe, one of Scotland's longest freshwater lochs, and the town of Inveraray, the historic seat of the Dukes of Argyll.
