Local Hero

1983

A representative of an oil company arrives in a small Scottish fishing village to negotiate the purchase of the entire community for an offshore development, but finds himself falling under the spell of the place and its eccentric inhabitants. Bill Forsyth's gentle, melancholic comedy is a quietly magical film about what money cannot buy.
