Redcar
Redcar is a seaside town in the Redcar and Cleveland unitary authority in North Yorkshire, situated on the North Sea coast approximately ten miles east of Middlesbrough. The town has a long sandy beach, a traditional seafront with amusements and the Redcar Beacon visitor centre, and was a fashionable Victorian resort. The nearby Redcar Steelworks, once operated by SSI UK, was for many years a major employer in the area before its closure in 2015, which was a significant economic blow to the town. Redcar is close to the North York Moors National Park and is served by rail on the Teesside line.
