Swindon
Swindon is a large town in Wiltshire, England, situated on the edge of the Marlborough Downs approximately seventy-seven miles west of London. It developed from a small market town into a major railway engineering centre following the establishment of the Great Western Railway works there in 1843, and grew rapidly through the 19th and 20th centuries. The GWR Steam Museum, a heritage railway museum on the site of the original works, is now a major visitor attraction in the town. Swindon is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United Kingdom and has attracted significant commercial and distribution industry investment.
