New Barnet
New Barnet is a suburban district in the London Borough of Barnet in north London, situated along the East Coast Main Line approximately 15 kilometres north of central London. The area developed primarily as a railway suburb following the opening of the Great Northern Railway station in the 19th century. It is a largely residential area with a local shopping street focused around East Barnet Road and New Barnet station. New Barnet adjoins East Barnet and Cockfosters and is part of the broad outer north London suburban belt.
