RAF Bovingdon
RAF Bovingdon was a Royal Air Force station located near Bovingdon in Hertfordshire, England, approximately 5 kilometres south of Hemel Hempstead. The airfield was constructed in 1941 and was used by both the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War, notably as a base and training airfield. The station closed as an active airfield in 1969, and the site was subsequently used as Hemel Hempstead Prison before being redeveloped for other uses. The former airfield has been used as a motorsport venue and film location.
