Highclere Castle
Highclere Castle is a Victorian country house located near the village of Highclere in Hampshire, approximately 5 miles south of Newbury in Berkshire. The present house was designed in the Jacobethan style by Sir Charles Barry, the architect of the Houses of Parliament, and completed in the 1840s for the 3rd Earl of Carnarvon. The castle is the home of the Earl of Carnarvon and is set within 1,000 acres of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. It is internationally recognised as the filming location for the television drama series Downton Abbey.
