Epsom Racecourse
Epsom Racecourse is a famous horse racing venue situated on Epsom Downs in Surrey, approximately fourteen miles south-west of central London. The racecourse is home to two of the five British Classic races: the Derby, first run in 1780, and the Oaks, first run in 1779, both held in early June and attracting some of the finest thoroughbreds in the world. The undulating downland track, with its pronounced camber and steep descent at Tattenham Corner, is considered one of the most testing flat race courses in the world. The grandstand was rebuilt in 1992 and offers panoramic views across the Surrey Hills.
