Badminton House is a large country house located in the village of Badminton in Gloucestershire, England, near the town of Tetbury. It is the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Beaufort and has been in the Somerset family since 1608. The house is particularly famous for giving its name to the sport of badminton, which is said to have been first played in its grounds in the 1860s. The estate is internationally renowned for hosting the Badminton Horse Trials, one of the most prestigious three-day eventing competitions in the world.
