Plymouth
Plymouth is a large coastal city in Devon, southwest England, situated on Plymouth Sound at the confluence of the rivers Plym and Tamar, bordering Cornwall to the west. The city has a long and significant maritime history as a naval port, and HMNB Devonport remains one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. Plymouth Hoe, the elevated headland above the Sound, is associated with Sir Francis Drake and offers panoramic views out to sea and to the breakwater, and the city contains the National Marine Aquarium and the historic Barbican harbour area.
